I can’t remember what made me sign up for the newspaper class in high school, but I fell hard in love with the marriage of words and visuals. From there, I found my way to the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, where I got my ABJ in Magazines with a minor in English. Over the years I have collaborated with some amazing editors, writers, photographers, and artists on visual storytelling projects. I have found these people to be extremely empathetic about the lives they depict, and earnest about the truth of their words and imagery. I usually find this kinship among other creatives, and I thrive on that connection. For me, design is an act of intention; of respectfully weaving the work of writers and editors and visual artists to a sum more than its parts.
That said, sometimes design is just about making the dang thing quickly, and have it look as good as possible. And that’s ok too!
